A quick review of the definition of focus reveals an interesting truth. Focus is simply something that holds or keeps our attention. Notice the parallel between focus and so many of the other success keywords that can include both positive and negative outcomes. We can use our focus to be attracted to the right things or the wrong things. Once again, it is our choice of which way we will go. If you are searching for victory, focus on something positive. If you are trying to achieve a goal, focus on something positive. If you are trying to improve your character, focus on something positive. I think you can see the recurring theme of using our focus to attract positive results.

Any examination of this word requires usually revolves around losing focus more than keeping it. When studying success, this is definitely the case. We tend to lose focus when we take our eyes off the prize. We can lose sight of our inevitable victory as hardships and setbacks occur. If we think we are far from success, we can lose sight of our dreams and vision. During our daily routine filled with ups-and -downs, we can lose sight of our passion and motivation. All of these things are ways in which we can lose focus. Keeping focus is a challenge, especially when failure occurs. Remember, failure is a part of the success process. Also remember not to let failure distract you from your focus….

Successful people know they need to keep their focus before success arrives, when it finally does appear, and after starts to fade. They do not get complacent or stop to take a break. Instead, they stay hungry. They either attempt to build on their current success, or look to new challenges to achieve the next victory. Successful people set new goals and start the success process all over again. Sure, their journey may be filled with new obstacles and hardships, but one thing is certain. Once successful people have a sense of achievement, they seek new challenges instead of losing focus.

How can you master the art of keeping your focus, or regaining your focus to become more successful? I have provided a few activities that can certainly help. If you liked the Success Book project, what is stopping you from adding more information to it? If you liked completing the “Wish Upon a Star” exercise, what is stopping you from doing it again? If you liked the “Goal Setting Worksheet”, what is preventing you from writing down additional goals now? These are three examples of activities that can help you either focus or refocus, and get started on the path to victory again.

In summary, both failure and success require us to focus as a way to keep our eyes on the prize. If you lose sight of your initial dreams and vision, do an exercise to refocus. If you win a prize or complete a goal, find the next challenge to keep your passion and motivation high. True, lasting and habitual successes will not allow you to lose focus. The moment you do, it is like taking apart a building, one brick at a time. Eventually, the process of removing the bricks will lead to a collapse. Losing focus could easily lead to the destruction of the success you have spent so much time trying to build. Do not let this happen to you!

Affirmation: I focus of the end-results of ultimate victory and success based upon my vision, dreams, and goals.
