Patience… an excerpt from the soon to be released book:
Motivation for the World, One Word at a Time by Gary A. McAbee
Just in case you have not noticed, the success process outlined in this book will require a lot of patience. Patience can be thought of by looking at two words: ability and willingness. You have the ability to be patient. By definition, patience includes the ability to hold back your desire when it is delayed. The question is whether or not you have the willingness to wait. This is the choice patience demands from all of us on a daily basis. We know possibilities victory holds, and we understand how to see them through our dreams and vision. We also know the success process may require perseverance and failure. When we put it all together, do we have enough patience to go through the steps regardless of how long it may take to see success?
We live in a world where instant gratification rules. We want everything now. In fact, most of us want everything yesterday because today is already too late. While speed works in many arenas, chances are it will not work as we pursue whatever measure of success we are seeking. This is because success requires a step-by-step process, and this process can take a lot longer than we are willing to wait. I believe this is one of the major reasons why more people do not experience victory and success on a daily basis. It takes too long! I strongly suggest that you get used to waiting and embrace it to some degree as well. Success requires perseverance and patience. There is no secret formula.
Unfortunately, it is rare that tremendous success comes quickly. We tend to believe that successful people arrive at their destination overnight. Our society paints a picture that says we do not have to pay our dues to become more successful. We only see the victory of successful people, but do not see the process they used to find success. We hear things about people who get ahead: they have the right connections, or they have so much luck because they get all the breaks. While this does happen occasionally, in reality their road to success may have taken many years before it became a reality. Their road required some level of patience that is usually unseen by the outside world.
I believe the amount of patience we are willing to display is a direct correlation to the value of the success we seek. Simply put, if it is that important, you will wait with some degree of patience while you work toward making your dreams become reality. Building your patience requires a lot of… patience! It also requires a thorough understanding that patience is a process itself, and it is also a part of the larger process of success. Now that you know, you must fight against the urge to expect things today. Hold off instant gratification. Instead, set realistic expectations and use patience, even if things do not appear quickly as we wish.
Affirmation: I believe in the process of becoming more successful through patience and faith that my victory is within reach.
